(24AUN) Status 10/31

Happy Halloween!

I've been working on episode 11 the past few days. It's progressing slowly, but at least it is progressing. Hopefully I'll get something done over the next few days.

One frustrating thing is that I work on 24AU at night, so I only get a few hours before I get too tired to write coherently. What I've had to start doing is anticipating this as the early signs come on, then write notes for myself so that I know where to go when I pick the script up the next time. It's kind of a pain. But it's helpful, in a way.

Another problem with episode eleven is some name confusion I've got going on. My long running character, Marc Warner, appears in it, along with a new character named Rob Wilson. The problem is that the host of a local radio show in detroit is Mark Wilson; therefore, I keep confusing the two names when I'm writing. If I had anticipated this when I started, I would have changed Wilson's name, but now it's too late. Oh, well. Hopefully it won't be too bad by the time I finish.

Well, I'm just about done for tonight, and I'm going to pick it back up tomorrow morning.

Thirty mintues done, only sixty more to go before I can post episode 8.

(24AUN) Episode 7

Episode 7's posted! Enjoy!

(24AUN) Excited

I'm getting really excited now.

I've been reading my old outline for episode 11, and I'm getting excited. Starting with episode 11, I'll be writing some of my favorite, best episodes of 24au. Thanks to the detailed outline I wrote for these, the changes I'll have to make will be minimal, even despite the often large changes I've made.

Tonight, I plan on getting started on episode 11. Wish me luck.

(24AUN) Status 10/12

Big news today. After I set my goal to get episode ten done by 10/15 (see my post at the Daily Grind for that), I got to some serious work. I started the episode on 10/6. Well, today, 10/12-- just six days after I started episode 10, it is done. Completely ready to be posted, barring a read-through. Six days to write an episode of 24:AU. That's unreal to me. It took me longer to outline some of the episodes. I can't believe it. If I can just keep up this pace, I may have the series done by January, as planned.

Well, with episode 10 written, that means that I have met my goal and am all set to post episode 7, which I will do tomorrow (give me a break; I've been working at a computer all day, and it's about 11:30pm right now!). By noon tomorrow, check back for episode 7 of 24AU to be posted. After that, I will get right back to work, setting a new deadline, and another goal of an episode and a half.

At the episode goal I'm working at now:

Episodes complete- 10 ---- Posted episodes- 7
Episodes complete- 11+1/2 ---- Posted episodes- 8
Episodes complete- 13 ---- Posted episodes- 9
Episodes complete- 14+1/2 ---- Posted episodes- 10
Episodes complete- 16 ---- Posted episodes- 11
Episodes complete- ALL --- Posted episodes 12

That means that once I have episode 12 posted, I will be able to release the rest of them at a more reasonable timeline. However, I may increase my goal for episodes complete to shorten the process...

Farewell, 3G

Today, Detroit radio host Gregg Henson was fired from his job at WKRK (97.1FM). He was one of my favorite hosts, and I think he will be missed.

Henson out, Roth may be in at talker WKRK

Gregg Henson is out and David Lee Roth may be in at Infinity-owned Detroit talk station WKRK-FM (97.1).

Monday, vice president and general manager Rich Homberg confirmed talk show co-host Henson has been jettisoned after making on-air accusations about WKQI-FM (95.5) evening voice Tic Tac.

Henson's co-host, Michelle McKormick, survives, Homberg said. She will be paired with a new co-host who will continue "Motor City Midday" from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays "in a day or two," Homberg said. That show had been in repeats for about 10 days after the Tic Tac incident..

Henson has had a controversial career on the Detroit airways. Once the morning host and programmer on Clear Channel sports-talker WDFN-AM (1130), he left to run its direct competitor, Infinity-owned WXYT-AM (1270). After a year there, he was shifted to WKRK in November 2003, reportedly after WXYT received pressure from the Red Wings and Tigers organization about what it perceived as harsh criticism of the Ilitch teams' ownership and management.

At the time, Henson said the move was voluntary and that he wanted to move into non-sports talk radio.

Listener Kevin Murdock of Livonia said: "Gregg has always pushed buttons and those who understand his personality know that. I have always enjoyed it (since the WDFN days) for what it was - entertainment. It is sad in our PC world that we always find the need for a scapegoat - unfortunately I think Gregg gives his detractors the ammunition they need in some instances."

Meanwhile, FoxNews.com reported that it has confirmed rocker Roth will take over for the departing Howard Stern on Infinity's eastern stations carrying Stern (including WKRK) when the shock jock supreme departs for satellite in January. Various industry journals have reported that Roth would take Stern's eastern outlets while comic Adam Corolla would do an L.A.-based show for the west. Homberg could not be reached for a comment on the Stern/Roth report.

Michigan Weather

Well, it was 80 degrees on Monday.

Today, Sunday, it's 60. I'm freakin freezing. I just was not ready for this, despite having spent nineteen previous winters here.

Death of a blog

Due to the fact that I just do not have time to update it any more, I'm closing the Reviews blog. However, I did think ahead! I moved all of the entries to this blog, in the appropriate dates they were originally posted.

Please, a moment of silence for the reviews blog.

Not much to say, other than that I am still working on it, and that things are going slow.
