Work on episode 13 is almost complete!
Yes, that means that I've been working on the same damn episode for over a month--close to a month and a half.
Episode 13 is the most detailed, heavily edited episode yet, and it's also the longest; my estimate is that it will finish out at 75 pages. That's fifteen pages more than it should.
The reason for all of this is that episode 13 is a very pivotal episode. It is the transition into the end run of episodes and there are several action scenes contained within. I wanted it to be a good as it could be.
Plus, I ran into a bit of an inspiration drought. For almost all of December, I was writing, but it was all kinda automatic--there was no real feeling behind it. I needed to get my inspiration back.
I've got it.
I got it back by watching 24; re-watching the fourth season and catching the beginning of the fifth as it airs. It helped quite a bit. Being able to hear Sean Callery's soundtrack--beyond the tracks of the official soundtrack--was the most helpful. There are intense bits of music that are perfect for this episode but do not appear on the official soundtrack. It was one of the best guides.
Well, it's back to work for me. I'm at 7:50PM and I'm getting some serious progress.
Because I can't resist, here is a bit of dialogue from episode 13.
"Thanks a lot for this. You're a big help."
"Somehow, I don't think Chappelle would agree. If he asks, I didn't help you."
"Well, if he asks, you never saw me."
"That's the idea."
